Acrylics, Eyelashes, and Iconic Clapbacks: How Jasmine Crockett Became the Internet’s Favorite Politician (2 of 3)

The clips of the interaction went viral rapidly, turning into songs, memes, and even merchandise. Crockett proceeded to seek a trademark on the phrase for apparel, explaining that she intended to use the proceeds for political fundraising. The exchange also drew criticism in terms of political spaces not being the forum for personal insults, as it distracts from official business.

When The Clapback Became Apart of Pop Culture

This same remark didn’t just stay confined to political accounts. On The View in May 2024, Whoopi Goldberg played a musical remix of Crockett’s words as the hosts of the show welcomed her to the show. Crockett discussed the response to the interaction and her decision to merchandise the viral phrase. By this time, the dispute had crossed from a congressional occurrence to daytime television and entertainment news coverage.

Later in an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, she discussed how the interaction came about again. She also told The Independent that during the hearing, her pastor had called to tell her that the clip was already going viral online.

“Take It Outside:” Another Viral Hearing Clip

Crocket had another exchange in January 2025 with Rep. Nancy Mace that generated another round of viral clips. During a House hearing regarding transgender issues and civil rights, Crockett criticized Mace’s repeated decision to focus on transgender individuals. Mace challenged Crockett in response to “take it outside.” The confrontation quickly circulated widely, with media coverage focusing on the tense atmosphere in the hearing room and the remarks made by the lawmakers.
